Ooooh

Second major project for Life Drawing ended up as so-so.

First off, I'm still trying to get used to drawing big (as far as measures go) illustrations. However, despite that, I did my best to create one. Sure, it will take lots of practices in order to get better but yea, I I felt that I could've done a bit more for the second project.

My Art Director's critique for the first project was mellow--- he tried to hold back since we are pretty much newbies when it comes to this.

However, the art critique this afternoon was quite interesting to say the least. This time he pulled no punches as he tears right through our handiworks that left me upset and motivated at the same time.

When I said upset, I meant to say that he did not disrespected me or anything, it's just I felt challenged when the class was done afterwards,

Having a funk right now. Perhaps it's because it's nearing finals (for this quarter) and I'm feeling so anxious right this moment. Feels like some things are out of alignment for some reason and my priorities have been in a constant state of flux.

I mean, school is going all right (with the occasional struggles with math-related subjects), work is going fine (except last week where one of my senior co-workers pretty much gave me the riot act-- I guess I had it coming anyways) so yeah, both my brothers are doing well same goes for my Mom.

I don't see why I feel still worried about things, maybe because I'm a worrywart by nature but sometimes not giving a flying fuck at all the next.

Well, gotta hit the sack. All this thinking at this time of the morning is making me more sleepy (that's a good thing right?).

Art dumps when I feel like it. Maybe this week, I dunno.

Hectic week. Weird thing is, I know what needs to be done as far as Finals projects are concerned. May have to ask for a day or two so I can finish everything before mid-June.

Oh yea, almost had that root canal surgery. Good thing the new dentist decided to double check to see if my tooth can be preserved for at least a bit longer by filling it in instead of taking out the nerves. And he was right.

Will have a follow-up check in third week of June.

Got two big projects in life drawing, got to finish those in time. Got lucky last week since my instructor wasn't present so he wasn't there to collect the first project (mine was incomplete)... gave me a bit of a breathing room to refine it.

Root canal surgery on Thursday. *shudders*

Will do an art dump next week, or the week after next week. Getting busy at work/school/life.

Still doing sketches but just didn't have the time to post anything this week. Though I can tell you that Friday is where I will determine whether if I transfer to another art school or stay here at the Art Institute. It's a long story, will let you know what's up next week or something.

Sketch dump

Let's start off with me helping my classmate giving a jumpstart since his Jeep's battery ran out of juice. note to self: buy jumper cables and other equipment as well.

Anyways, dumping art now:

Seven two-minute and one 5-minute drawings. Night session

 5-minute drawings. Night session.

  10-minute drawings. Night session.

8-minute drawings from the 'Cirque guy. Nice model to work with.

Sketching while waiting for my food. Charcoal.

My food. With extra Nori, Nitamago and Chashu Pork.

8-minute drawings. She looked stiff, still trying to do all that technique our instructor has told us so yea. Life drawing class.

5- and 8- minute drawings. I liked this one better, the model is nice to work with as well. Life drawing class.

Valygar and his stupidly short legs. Quick sketch at work. 8B graphite with white pastel on a discarded wine cardboard box.

Was inspired by Frazetta's "Death Dealer" drawings. Funny, I was just thinking about it and my hand just started working on this sketch. Quick sketch at work. Ballpoint pen on a discarded white wine cardboard box.

Barbarian. Light study on a discarded white wine cardboard box. Ballpoint pen.

Oil change and burgers

So, I looked at my Odometer and I noticed something: this car has travelled for 140,753 miles. I thought "heh, for a car that as old as this (2000 Corolla), it runs really well!"

But for some reason, something bugged me: that I should be doing something about the mileage. So I reached into the glove compartment and checked the car's maintenance log when's the next oil change should be.

And the next oil change was suppose to happen when it hits 140,311 miles.

Richie, you idiot.

So, it was the weekend and I just got done with Midterms week, I decided to head to Walmart's Automotive corner and get an oil change. Selected the "High Mileage" option ($45) and was told to wait for 45 minutes so there was a couple of vehicles ahead of me which I didn't mind.

It was 2PM and decided to get some lunch. I looked around and checked what's a nice place to eat (got sick and tired of eating McDonalds)... there's TGIFriday's across the street, a Subway place, a buffet place (since across Walmart is Sam's Town and The Cannery Casino).

And then, I noticed that within the commercial center where I was, I saw this burger place called "Tommy's". It piqued my interest since I was kind of wanting to eat at Tommy Rockers (which is actually a bar/restaurant/live band venue place and in turn, I confused it with Fuddruckers... I'm such a nub) for a while now.

So I went in, and looked around and it's a nice place. Very comfy. I looked at the menu and it's a chilli-and-burger combo as their spiel. Ordered Combo number 1(Double Cheeseburger with Chilli, Chilli Cheese Fries and a large Coke).

Et voila:

I have to say their chilli is better than Carl's Jr's chilli cheese fries, hands down. The double cheese burger tastes good as well. That double slice of american cheese gives the chilli more consistency as for as texture goes, I actually liked it.

Though by the time I got to the bottom of that fries, it's already soaked in oil which I decided not to finish the damn thing. I think I'm going to bring my brother here when we're craving for a nice burger. It's not far from our place either.

As for my favorite burger joint list, it's as follows:

1.) In-and-Out Burger. The best burger there is. And their fries, ohgawds. Awesome.
2.) Cheeburger Cheeburger. a close second to In-and-Out. Awesome Onion Rings and their uber selection of Milkshakes.
3.) Tommy's. A California favorite. With several locations here in Vegas. Love their chilli-and-burger combo.
4.) That burger place in Yokosuka (it's close to the US Navy base). Shit, I forgot the name. The place is very small with that weird old school feel. Burgers are nice and juicy, but portions are small for me so I have to order twice. Dammit, I forgot the name.

I still need to try out Fuddruckers, i love burgers and the five guys burgers place.

As for the rest of the list, I just got to include those "other" burger places BUT, I will reserve slots 5, 6 and 7 for the other three places that I just mentioned so I'll skip to the last four of my list.

8.) Carl's Jr. Their Six-Dollar Burgers are the bomb, hah.
9.) Wendy's. Salty as fuck but, their burgers are ok for a quick fix.
10.) McDonalds. You hate it, you love it, whatever.
11.) Burger King. Makes my stomach churn whenever I eat their fries. And being the idiot that I am, I still order the meal set whenever I go on their Drive-Thru whenever I'm hungry and on my way to work.

Oh, right. The oil change. Anyways, got my car back and was told to change my car battery. Need to get one ASAP. Shit, and I still need to check my brakes too.

Midterms!

It has been a hectic two weeks I tell ya.

Let's start off with the Midterm Week-- submitted my Sociology report (listening to a song and explain it's sociological impact on our society). That was fun to do, took me three hours to do the whole dang thing (he's only asking for 2 pages, I did 8). And then, we finished the day with an hour worth of midterm exams. I think I did well on that one.

Pre Algebra was the same: fell asleep on the class half of the time. Sorry, I don't really like math AT ALL.

Game Dev't and Theory--- well, this one has been a cinch because of my group members doing pretty well with their roles (I was tasked in character ideation--- mostly the hero and supporting cast). I'll post some of it tomorrow, it's almost done.

Life Drawing. We were told to do sixty drawings coming from the Glenn Villipu book and the way he wants it is to find a figure drawing, trace it first and then do a freehand drawing of the same image. Or, attend the Wednesday night art session and that's an equivalent of fifteen sets (or thirty drawings through the book).

In my case, I attended two session which took off a nice chunk and only have to finish thirty sets of drawings. Hmm, I'll post some of it later as well.

My midterm grade is as follows:

Sociology - B+
Pre Algebra - C
Game Dev't and Design B+
Life Drawing - A

Yea, I know. I'll just eke out a passing grade in Algebra. I don't give a flying fuck about getting a high grade as long as I pass that fucking subject. Sociology is fun, though it takes a lot of reading. Game Dev't and design is fun, since all four of us in my work group are getting in synch so less arguments there. I'm concentrating most on Life Drawing, still have a lot to learn about human anatomy/shading/movements.

Holy shit, this has been a super busy week in school and at work.

Anyways, seems like a nice day today. I think I'm gonna go out and relax for a bit.

I'll post my late blog session tonight; got a lot of crap to tell, hah.
